What is a Live Scan?
Live Scan is a digital fingerprinting technology used for capturing fingerprints electronically that immediately transfer to the California Department of Justice or the FBI within seconds, allowing state or federal criminal history results to be received back much more quickly than traditional fingerprints taken with a finger rolling process using ink. Live Scan devices scan the fingerprints of an individual and send the digital images to a computer for processing and storage. This process eliminates the need for ink and reduces the time required to obtain and process fingerprints.
Live Scan devices are also capable of capturing additional biometric data such as palm prints, facial recognition, and iris scans, making it a versatile technology for identity verification and security purposes.
WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING
Bring a valid Government/State-issued photo ID (see FAQ page for more information). For Live Scan fingerprinting, also bring the Request for Live Scan Service form issued by the organization requesting the background check. Plus rolling and gov fees.
